The annual meeting on China Biodiversity Observation Network (Sino BON) was held in Institute of Botany (IB), CAS on Aug. 15, 2016. Forty-five scientific personnel from 17 related institutes and headquarters of CAS attended the meeting, including Mr. Ziyuan Duan, the Deputy Director General of Bureau of Science & Technology for Development, CAS, and experts from biodiversity fields, such as Profs. Keping Ma, and Xiaoquan Wang from IB, Prof. Qing Liu from Chengdu Institute of Biology, Prof. Shilong Chen, from Northwest Institute of Plateau Biology, CAS, etc.
Prof. Keping Ma gave a report on the progress of Sino BON, focusing on scientific objectives, infrastructure development, distribution of monitoring sites of ten thematic networks, gaps and suggestions, etc. Also the ten thematic monitoring networks and synthesis center made their work reports.
A full agreement was reached at the meeting. Standardized monitoring methods should be developed by thematic networks and data sharing should be achieved. It is encouraged for Sino BON to apply supports from the Chinese government and CAS and be actively involved in national platform development.
