As you may remember, the new GEO BON structure adopted in the summer of 2016 was meant to, inter alia, better support the development of the Essential Biodiversity Variables within the different EBV classes. This lead to the establishment of 3 working groups dedicated to the Species Populations, Ecosystem Structure, and Ecosystem Function EBVs.
We are proud to announce that the EBV classes are finally all represented by GEO BON working groups! The newly created groups are the Genetic Composition working group led by Sean Hoban (Morton Arboretum – USA), the Species Traits working group led by Jens Kattge (Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry – Germany) and Mark Costello (University of Auckland – New Zealand), and the Community Composition working group led by Simon Ferrier (CSIRO – Australia) and Wilfried Thuiller (Université Grenoble Alpes – France).
The working groups will be preparing their work plans for the next two years during the GEO BON All Hands meeting this July and in the following months.
